QA Engineer

Summary:

Provide black box testing of proprietary software on Macintosh and or Windows platforms.  Specific task areas include:  helping to plan and document tests based on the product's use cases, functional specification, and technical specification.  Helping set up software and hardware to test various product configurations.  Works well independently and with other team members to run a broad range of manual tests including functionality, compatibility, and feature-focused tests.  Formally reporting test results and writing bug reports.  Verifies that found problems have been fixed (regression testing).  Working with software engineers to discover and demonstrate how to reproduce bugs.

 

 

Responsibilities:

? Provide black box testing of Macintosh and Windows client/server software

? Planning, estimating, prioritizing, scheduling and executing of tests based on the product's functional specification

? Helping to set up software and hardware to test various product configurations

? Working independently and with other team members to run a broad range of manual tests including functionality, compatibility, and feature-focused tests

? Formally reporting test results and writing bug reports

? Verifying that found problems have been fixed (regression testing)

? Working with software engineers to demonstrate how to reproduce bugs

 

 

Qualifications:Essential

? Minimum 3-5 years experience in software test/QA

? Experience using applications and software tools under Macintosh and/or Windows

? Advanced knowledge of either Macintosh or Windows operating systems

? Demonstrated, excellent written and verbal communication skills, teamwork and team skills

? Demonstrated ability to work independently and in coordination with the rest of the project team

? Strong analytic and problem-solving skills

? Strong experience writing software test cases, test designs, and test plans

? Familiarity with SQL databases

? Experience with client/server testing

? Strong knowledge of different testing methodologies

 

 Helpful

? Experience testing software on personal computers

? Familiarity with digital imaging, commercial printing, graphics design or related fields

? Experience with ASP testing

? Knowledge of HTML, XML

? Experience in test process modeling and/or test optimization

? Experience working in an iterative/agile development environment

? Experience in software testing / quality assurance of commercial, shrink-wrapped software

 

 

Education/Formal Training:  B.S. in Computer Science (or related field) or equivalent years of experience

 

 

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:  None required.  QA certification may be considered in place of college degree.
