Position Overview

The Quality Assurance Lead is responsible for testing the SCORE! software platform to verify that the system operates according to requirements, design specifications, and functional specifications.  S/he develops and maintains test plans, bug tracking systems, and entry/exit criteria for each phase of development for both the content and software.  Additionally, the QA Lead designs and, with the assistance and oversight of the Technical Lead, develops the build and testing environments for project QA. The QA Lead primarily reports to the VP of Educational Affairs.

 

Responsibilities

?  Holds responsibility for the identification of defects in every aspect of the product and, working with the project management team, manage the resolution of such defects throughout various project life cycles. 

?  Develop quality assurance resource plan per project budget and schedule constraints.

?  Assist in the engagement and ongoing management of outside vendors for quality assurance.

?  Assist in engagement of SCORE! quality assurance employees hired for this project.

?  Manage outside quality assurance partners on a day-to-day basis.

?  Manage SCORE! quality assurance personnel associated with the project on a day-to-day basis.

?  Develop and manage creation and execution of test plans by inside and outside QA personnel.

?  Develop and maintain work plan ? including budget and resource requirements -  for quality assurance.

?  Gather and synthesize requirements for development QA environments.

?  Develop budget and infrastructure design based on QA requirements.

?  Working with the Technical Lead, create QA environments as needed.

?  Maintain QA environments as needed through the duration of the project.

?  Working with the Technical Lead, assist in creation of staging and production environments as needed.

?  Serve as key strategic member of the SCORE! software development core team, providing input on quality assurance, as well as general strategic issues.

?  Hold responsibility for the identification of defects in every aspect of the product and, working with the software development management team, manage the resolution of such defects. 

?  Attend outside vendor training sessions and accumulate required knowledge of SCORE! software products.

?  Other tasks as needed.

 

Required Skills

?  Five years experience and training in quality assurance toolsets and methodologies, spanning both black and white box software QA as well as content and editorial quality assurance.

?  Strong understanding of web deployment systems for multiple browsers (IE, Mozilla, Safari) utilizing Flash presentation supported by server-side Java applications and Oracle databases.  Good understanding of Linux and Sun operating systems configuration and support.

?  Excellent management skills, especially involving offshore vendors.

?  Very good skills in schedule, budget, and resource management development and tracking.

?  Some experience in development and QA of online educational systems is highly desired.
