The Fluid Mechanics and Mixing (FM&M) Discipline of Engineering and Process Sciences, in Core R&D, has a vision to be recognized internally and externally as a Center of Excellence for developing and applying Fluid Mechanics and Mixing expertise in achieving most effective processes for making chemicals and plastics.  The team members acquire and apply knowledge and expertise in mixing, fluid flow and related transport phenomena for scale-up, design, optimization, process troubleshooting, and safe operations of processes.  Specific expertise and skills include the ability to solve problems with the appropriate and synergistic use of basic engineering correlations, computational fluid dynamic (CFD) and experimental studies on mixing and fluid dynamics. 

 

The primary objective of this position is to add to and strengthen the team's expertise in computational and experimental fluid dynamics for addressing complex multi-phase processes with reactions.  The job role also includes the following: Interface with clients and coworkers to define and execute project plans. Design and apply computational fluid dynamics models and/or engineering correlations. Design and safe operation of laboratory experiments. Complete identified and agreed upon project(s) and team goals within the specified timeline. Communicate and document results in a timely fashion. Able to effectively communicate across multi functions and sites, able to lead and facilitate meetings, and document results and invention disclosures. Plant troubleshooting support in the FM&M technology areas. Adherence to safe work practices and guidelines

This job may located in either Midland, MI or Freeport, TX.

PhD, or MS with experience, in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
