Release Management

The Pharmaceutical R&D Enterprise Resource Planning project (ERP) requires well managed and controlled software updates in a highly regulated environment.  The primary activities are:

1.  Track and follow all software changes from several parallel development paths including POMS, JDE, and Cognos.

2.  Integrate these changes into structured software releases to multiple environments including training, IT, UAT, and production.

3.  Manage the deployment of these releases and ensure that the base software and configuration of each release follow strict change control procedures using ClearCase and ClearQuest.

4.  Develop release documentation such as the Release Notes (RN) or Configuration Baseline

5.  Plan all software release activities

6.  Coordinate the deployment times with the Site Application Managers and the UAT testers depending on the deployment.

7.  Coordinate the deployments across the POMS, JDE, and Cognos system components.

8.  Attend weekly Change Control Board meetings.

9.  Conduct weekly deployment planning meetings.

10. Communicate Release schedules and details to various individuals.

11. Supervises deployments.
