The position involves architecture, design and implementation of Layer 2(L2)? control and forwarding for a new 48 G switch/router product. The forwarding plane is expected to integrate several technologies such as MAC Bridging, VLAN, VLAN Stacking, Port Trunking and several 802.1 standards to accomplish aggregation, priority marking, authentication and policy based VLANs. The candidate is expected to be a technical expert preferably with in-depth working knowledge and with the track record of having accomplished a similar task in the past. Essential skills include expertise in Layer 2 technologies, data structures/algorithms used for software based layer 2 switching with a good experience in real-time OS environment. Knowledge of fixed function ASICs for packet processing and Network processors with L2 forwarding functions are highly desirable.
