Nortel Networks ESPN routing team is an industry leading provider of access and mid-range IP router/switch products. Nortel? products are characterized by their rich feature set and an impressive cost to performance ratio.

The position involves architecture, design and implementation of a high performance software forwarding plane for a new 48 G switch/router product. The forwarding plane is expected to integrate several technologies such as MPLS, security/firewall, QoS and IP v6 based packet forwarding. Essential skills include expertise in TCP/IP and routing protocol suite, data structures/algorithms used for software fast path implementation and DiffServ based QoS. Implementation experience in packet scheduling algorithms such as RED, WRED and packet classification, policing, shaping techniques is a definite plus. Knowledge of fixed function ASICs used for packet processing and network processors is highly desirable.
