SOFTWARE ARCHITECT

Software Architect 

 

TYX Corporation, a world leader in software products for testing complex avionics, has an immediate opening for a software architect.  This full-time position offers a dynamic work environment with state-of-the-art software development in the MSDN environment on a Windows XP platform.  The successful candidate will possess a broad software engineering background with architectural design experience in the latest Microsoft software technologies. The ideal candidate possesses experience in test, measurement and diagnostic software development with an understanding of system-level test applications.  The position is located in Reston, VA approximately 20 miles from Washington DC.   

 

The individual will be responsible for system-level design of software products while analyzing system requirements to determine functional intent, input/output requirements, and systems performance. The individual will lead implementation and integration of software architectures and software systems encompassing developed software components, re-engineered code and/or commercial off the shelf software products. The individual will apply knowledge of computer systems processes, technical and /or scientific subject matter and input from various users as necessary to synthesize the design.

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

Performs system level analysis of customer requirements in broad software engineering technologies.  Able to scope, devise and synthesize concepts and system architectures to solve complex scientific and/or technical information systems problems.  Evaluates, performs trade studies, recommends, designs and implements complex software architectures.  Directs and participates in development of software architectures, programs, modules and components for software product synthesis based on customer requirements.  Supports technical briefings and design reviews. Uses strong background in structured software development methodologies and knowledge of software product lifecycles. 

 

Specific Skills Required:

 

? Experience in MSDN and/or Microsoft .NET technologies. 

? Experience in design of 3-tier architectures with GUIs, business objects & database technology

? Knowledge of test and measurement software for systems-level applications.

? Knowledge of Diagnostic Test Applications

? Excellent written and oral communication skills.

 

Education and/or Experience Required:

 

Minimum master?s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering with eight (8) years experience in C/C++ or Java programming.  PhDs are preferred.
