SOFTWARE ENGINEER - PL/SQL SKILLS NEEDED

Management Science Associates, Inc. is a Pittsburgh, PA based leader in the development of advanced analytical software and information based systems since 1963. We currently have multiple opportunities for Software Engineers with Pl/SQL, SQL, UNIX, and ETL tools.

 TITLE: Software Engineer I

OFFICE LOCATION: Pittsburgh, HQ

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Gather requirements, perform analysis and create detailed designs of object oriented software applications Design complex, cross-platform, multi-tier systems Independently work on all SDLC phases Analyze business systems requirements and design technical solutions based on those requirements Constantly strive to reduce our time to market (new customer implementations and enhanced systems) Apply standard structures and practices to produce robust and effective application and optimize complex query results (performance and flexibility) Routinely work against very large data volumes in Oracle to develop data warehousing products Develop and support new software applications Application tuning Design, document, test, and implement application features and enhancements Contribute to software development process standards Assist in development of automated of test scripts, product builds and installation programs for the applications Support existing programs and modules Participate in code reviews and unit testing Work closely with Q/A team and internal users Must deliver according to schedule Must understand and adhere to software development methodology

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Requires a four-year degree in Computer Science/Information Technology, Computer/Electrical Engineering Minimum three years of experience in systems analysis and programming, addressing unique issues of architecture and data management Minimum 1 years experience with SQL, PL/SQL, and SQL*Loader Experience working in an environment doing custom program development against an Oracle database required. Excellent PL/SQL skills are a must. Experience with complex transactional environments and custom application development using PL/SQL is required. Experience working with ETL tools and advanced tuning techniques Experience working within a systems development lifecycle methodology is essential Ideal candidate should have experience in development and performance tuning related to large volume processing Knowledge and experience of all aspects of the software development process Understanding of C# or C++ a plus Experience and expertise with relational databases, Structured Query Language (SQL), and Unix operating system Ability to work independently on multiple tasks Strong communication and technical skills Experience must be with distributed, multi-tier systems Significant experience with analysis, requirements definition, data modeling, programming supervision and project management skills required Excellent organizational and communication skills, both oral and written Ability to influence and manage change Ability to prepare and deliver presentations Must possess a solid business sense to analyze IT feasibility of proposals
