Role/Purpose:
Manages and directs a worldwide professional staff responsible for quality assurance testing of all assigned localized products. Manages and drives worldwide localization product and testing program processes. Delivers programs to improve efficiency, increase cost savings and ensure worldwide standards for the Worldwide Localization Test Development Department.
Defines and specifies the implementation of technical quality assurance standards, strategies, systems, methods, and procedures for testing and analyzing product performance and reliability. Manage the execution of test strategies and analysis of test results. Work with team members and globalization engineers to assure their participation in the design, development and review of software systems designs to ensure that localization quality assurance requirements and considerations are included within both the development process and the final product.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Identify and prioritize yearly key process improvement initiatives with set dollar amount for savings, and work with management team to implement yearly plan for continuous process improvement which is defined as initiatives that will reduce the time spent on a particular task or series of tasks and/or reduce the cost for those tasks or processes while maintaining agreed upon quality levels. Responsible for management and development of a worldwide Quality Assurance Team (including remote workers, in different time zones). Works in partnership with the development teams to decrease the amount of time and effort required to assure the quality of the localized products without sacrificing quality. Selects, develops, and builds global and local teams by recruiting resources, defining staff development areas and programs and providing ongoing feedback, training and development to increase their professional and technical competencies. Translates high level organizational goals to staff work tasks. Optimizes team efficiency by aligning projects with appropriate team resources. Develops and reports metrics to track progress towards yearly goals Develops staff capabilities through team-based mentoring by senior technical staff members.
In conjunction with fellow product group QA Managers, develops and implements technical quality assurance standards/metrics, strategies, systems, methods, and procedures for testing and analyzing localized product performance and reliability. Continuously monitors their effectiveness, identifying performance shortfalls/oversights and, as part of senior function management, initiates corrective action to enhance performance.
Evaluates feasibility of outsourced based testing and in-house based testing. Works with vendor management to establish vendor performance standards and metrics, monitor vendor technical resource allocation, foster effective communication vehicles between in-house staff and the vendor, and managing overall vendor performance.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Experience in software development as it applies to testing localized software Localization experience as it relates to test development Proven ability to articulate ideas and process improvements to convey business value Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Ability to be highly successful in a global management organization Knowledge or understanding of 2D/3D design software, such as AutoCAD or Inventor Excellent writing skills, editing skills, and command of spelling, grammar and syntax rules Understanding of software development and research analysis Strong management and team building background Strong presentation skills required International experience preferred Manage overall group recruitment, training, career development, performance reviews and compensation Participate in the localization budget development process and manage the group budget Work closely with all other department managers towards common yearly goals 25% 30% international travel required
Work Experience:
Twelve or more years of test development and localization experience in the software industry. Five or more years of management experience.
Education:
Masters of Science degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics or business or equivalent preferred.
