SQL 2000 DBA

MSD is an employee-owned company of over 600 professionals who support the diverse technical, scientific, and administrative needs of the Federal government. We are currently searching for an experienced SQL 2000 DBA to support one of our clients. This opportunity is permanent, full-time, and on site in Springfield, VA.

 

Position Overview:


The DBA will perform SQL server support and back-end database development. This position works closely with the Cinegy technical team and developers through all phases of project development. The position also requires responsibility for performance monitoring and software maintenance.

 

Required Skills:

 

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:


? Provide backup DBA support for installing, upgrading and maintaining MS SQL Server and applications
? Assist in planning, recommending and implementing changes to SQL Server architecture
? Prepare documentation of systems and system changes, prepare project status reports where required
? Monitor system event and error logs as well as disk drive space available to databases and transaction logs
? Monitor and analyze system performance
? Assist in developing performance reviews and tuning recommendations for applications
? Advise application development group to ensure that development work does not negatively affect production systems
? Consult with application developers regarding optimal use of SQL Server and related technologies
? Assist in recommending and overseeing database enhancements
? Test and implement new releases of SQL Server-related software
? Plan, implement, test and document backup and recovery procedures

 

Daily Duties:

 

-Ability to participate in 24x7x365 on-call support rotation, providing backup DBA support for IT team

 

-Three or more years practical experience on current versions of Microsoft SQL Server as a Database Administrator

 

-The ideal candidate for this position will possess the ability to act as the Enterprise Server Team Leader


 

Educational Requirements:

 

B.S.
3+ years of experience
