Senior Quality Engineer

 

SUMMARY

 

A fast-growing, funded software startup led by veteran entrepreneurs, is building out its team to handle the huge demand for its wireless network optimization solutions.

 

The successful candidate will have demonstrated success in specifying, implementing, and maintaining functional and integration test plans in a commercial software environment, possess skills in building and maintaining automated test infrastructure. The successful candidate will also have experience in leading a team of quality engineers, providing technical direction to the team and coordinating test planning and automation efforts, scheduling, job allocation and interfacing with the management. This position will contribute to the quality of company's service and the candidate must be highly organized and possess a strong analytical and structured approach to problem solving and testing.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

?  Define and thoroughly execute Product and Integration Test Plans diagnose test failures and produce timely test reports.

?  Identify and develop system/component automation test scripts to enhance efficiency of product testing.

?  Continuously and proactively look for ways to improve the product testing processes and procedures through appropriate test design and use of tools.

?  Assist in the production of effective documentation and test specifications that can be used both internally and externally.

?  Responsible for the testing and review of product installation guides/manuals and functional specifications.

?  Customer Facing - communicate and gather test requirements from customer feedback

?  As a technical/team lead, take up additional responsibilities to schedule, allocate resources and coordinate test planning and automation development effort of the team, and interface with management to provide status on projects, issues etc.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

?  Has Strong UNIX/Linux, Windows and networking skills, and working knowledge and understanding of C/C++, C# and Perl.

?  TCP/IP routing and protocols such as UDP, WAP, HTTP, POP3, SMTP, SSH, FTP, SFTP, SNMP.

?  Experience with wireless networks (3G 2.xG, GPRS, GSM, CDMA, etc)

?  Experience with mobile devices is a plus.

?  Experience with enterprise software and service based offerings.

?  Good and proven problem solving skills.

?  Communicates effectively, both written and verbal, within the team and across departmental teams.

?  Ability to look at the big picture ? understand product architectures, requirements, understand testing challenges and come up with test methodologies and plans.

?  Good Team player - recognizes and contributes to the value and quality of the team's deliverables.

?  Requires minimal direction or supervision on assigned projects.

?  Proven ability to learn new technologies independently.

?  Professional and organized in their approach to the tasks set and able to complete independently, on time and to budget.

?  Self motivated / starter

?  Takes responsibility and is prepared to take ownership of assigned tasks

?  At least 5 years of experience in software testing with at least 2 years as a team lead/technical lead, excellent organizational skills.

?  Leadership skills, proven ability to lead a successful quality engineering team, providing technical direction to the team in test planning and building automated infrastructure.

?  Experience with MS project for scheduling, resource allocation

?  A BA/BS in Computer Science or related discipline is preferred

 

DESIRED SKILLS

 

?  Extensive experience with client/server or peer-to-peer applications.

?  Advanced UNIX/Linux and Windows administration and networking skills.

?  Programming, scripting and leadership skills.

?  Experience designing, developing and leading automation framework development and automation of test cases.
