REBT, LLC, currently has an exciting opportunity for a talented System / Network Administrator. We offer a small, fast moving environment utilizing the latest technologies in the market to implement a top-of-the-line distributed architecture.  REBT is located at the California Association of REALTORS? headquarters in Los Angeles.

 

The System / Network Administrator will be a member of a technical team to set up and maintain a system infrastructure to support development, testing and deployment in the production environment of a new generation of real-estate transaction management software. The successful candidate will be responsible for building, maintaining, evolving and operating our 24x7 production data center.  You will also be responsible for all other data centers (development, QA and disaster recovery) and will provide backup technical resources to C.A.R. and other subsidiaries as needed.

 Responsibilities:

 

The successful candidate will lead and own the system operations effort for production, QA and development environments through cooperation with the Director of Software Development and the Software Architect.  You will help select, install and maintain Operating System patches, libraries, applications, backup and all other aspects of system and network administration for both Linux and Windows based environments and make sure that all environments are up to date and running according to expected standards of performance and security including computer, physical and intellectual property.

 Specific Duties:

 

The successful candidate will be expected to:

 Install, configure and monitor Linux and Windows Operating System patches (including kernel for Linux), file systems, libraries and applications for production, QA and development environmentsInstall, configure and monitor networking setup such as firewall, content services switches, load balancers and VPN gatewaysInstall, configure and monitor mail serversMonitor log files, network traffic and access logs to detect and remediate any performance or security issuesIntrusion Detection (host and network) ? set up, monitor and prosecute offendersConfigure and monitor backup hardware and services in production, QA and development environmentsKeep all environments up to date with release patches and updatesWork with existing IT department as needed in performance of duties (though this position will for the most part be independent of the IT department)Acquire and install hardware as needed, including servers, networking and appliancesDerive budgets for estimating and projecting operational, development and QA requirementsDevelop, document and implement policies and proceduresAs needed, write and maintain scripts for Linux and Windows to implement the various configuration, monitoring and service implementation for all production, QA and development environmentsInstall, configure and maintain Apache and JBoss servers to ensure operation according to expected performance and security standards, including load balancing, caching, SSLCommunicate and cooperate with an offshore team of engineers as needed, to ensure that all network and server access is fully operational

 Knowledge and Skills Required:

 3 years without interruption as a System/Network Administrator3 years experience with Linux (preferably Red Hat) administration in a production environment with responsibilities covering performance and security2 years experience with Windows administration in a QA or development environment (though production experience is highly valued)2 years experience with networking hardware and software installation and configuration with a strong emphasis on performance and security. Cisco experience is preferred.Experience managing infrastructure tasks such as backup, monitoring, updates to existing environments3 years experience with supporting a web-application environment with Apache (or similar web server) and an application server tierKnows when to escalate quality issues to management such as when certain performance or security issues are encountered which need management interventionAbility to research and recommend specific tools to implement needed administration tasksExcellent communication and analysis skills

 Educational Requirements:A Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent experience in a technical area is required.
