Scientist ? Image Analysis

 

Basic purpose and objective

We are looking for a scientist to join our world-class image analysis team of scientists and algorithm developers. Your role will be to apply pattern recognition and machine learning techniques to a wide variety of interesting problems in medical imaging. The algorithms you develop will be a distinguishing part of one of the most advanced medical image analysis software products in the industry.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Your duties will be to develop, implement, and test different solutions to a large set of problems in understanding medical volumetric image data. The problems can range from identifying certain parts of organs to detection of abnormalities to building higher level models of the data. You will be expected to provide a great deal of help in ideas and implementation to other members of the team. You will be expected to be able to break down the solution into smaller manageable tasks with a quick implementation and verification time. You will also be expected to work with software engineers to integrate the algorithms into the final product.

 

 

Requirements and skills

? Strong C++ programming skills; good understanding of data structures and complexity; strong debugging and optimization skills. Strong experience in Matlab programming (vectorized code, experience in image and stat toolboxes, etc.) is a plus.

? Demonstrable knowledge and a 5+ years of experience in pattern recognition and machine learning techniques.

? A high level of creativity in coming up with different approaches in solving problems.

? A strong tendency to exhaust all possibilities of exploring ways to adapt, modify, and tailor an approach before discounting it.

? A very good sense of how an algorithm should be tested and an understanding of the importance of analysis as to why certain things fail. A strong desire to ?wanting to get to the root of the problem cause?.

? Very quick in producing code for verification and proof-of-concept experiments using Matlab and C++.

? A very solid background in probability and statistics and in linear algebra.

? A deep understanding of and experience in using most of the following concepts within the context of machine learning:

? Linear discriminant analysis

? Support vector machines

? Expectation maximization

? Bayesian networks

? Nonlinear dimensionality reduction

? Markov random fields

? Generative models

? Spectral clusteringExcellent communication skills and desire to help others.

 

Education ? MS in CS or related field and 5+ years of experience in research in relevant topics. PhD in CS preferred.
