Senior Applications Architect - Banking Applications 

Profile

This position requires a dedicated, creative and technically proficient Senior Applications Architect.  We will call upon the selected candidate's ability to lead the technical aspects of the design and development lifecycle of financial applications from foundation through to ever-evolving future opportunities and implementations. We need a talent with significant experience in understanding customer needs, assess, recommend, design, develop new solutions or enhance existing ones. Excellent written, verbal and customer facing communications skills and experience with large enterprises in a multi-platform environment is critical. Microsoft .Net, and J2EE Platforms are a Must! 


Applicants who would be successful in this role will have strong technical knowledge as well as solid business acumen. We are looking for a leader who can bring to Getronics their extensive technical understanding and customer focus to build and expand financial application solutions.


Challenges 

The successful candidate will have the challenge of balancing large scale delivery, design, development, and implementation of solutions to a large complex client vertical.  The candidate will need the ability to lead a complete life cycle of product development, design, and implementation which may include enhancements and new technology design.  Therefore, a solid understanding of architectural patterns, practices, technology platforms and infrastructures (both modern and legacy) is critical to success. The candidate will be expected to possess the flexibility to recommend proposed solutions on both new and existing applications. A stringent requirement exists for the ability to concisely communicate technical information and value, in various mediums, to broadly varying audiences ranging from non-technical to highly-technical.


Actions and Results 

This role will provide enterprise-scale architectural design, direction, development and disciplines to enhance and evolve financial applications provided by Getronics.  The role will contribute to the design and development of software products, assist in pre-sales efforts, and focus upon designing and developing customer applications of existing clients in varying stages of evolution ranging from enhancement to migrations.

These solutions range from more proprietary client-server systems to open distributed application models.

 Working with our customers, the responsibilities will include designing complex software architectures, which will meet the critical requirements of both internal and external clients. The solutions must provide a solid foundation for complex integration scenarios with multiple software solutions in heterogeneous environments.  The ability to ensure smooth and effective migrations from current, legacy, or new technology and add or enhance new versions of existing technology will be an every day occurrence. 


 Technical Skills and Qualifications

MCSD preferred
Microsoft .NET and J2EE experience
Project coordination in banking, consumer lending, or other financial services
15 solid years of product development and/or design

10 years of relevant experience in a leadership capacity, preferably responsible for overall justification, architectural design, and development and implementation of major projects

Significant experience with design, development creation and implementation of business applications for large enterprises in a multi platform environment including Microsoft and J2EE platforms

Ability to think creatively and spontaneously to solve problems bounded by business or budget as well as technical limitations

Communication skills including but not limited to; written, verbal, listening, and customer-facing representation

Willingness to travel 20-30%

Application Security Experience

Past experience in creating, documenting and benchmarking best practices

Relational database experience, including large-scale distributed database applications

Extensive technical skills as well as knowledge and understanding of current architectural patterns, practices, and trends

Process improvement success, and experience with development, implementation of processes
