Senior Database Architect

We are looking for an exceptional senior database architect with a specialty in data modeling and prior operational experience as a DBA.  This individual will be a key member of a technology team that is defining a new product architecture for the next generation of learning and workforce performance management systems.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

? Works with a team of architects and software engineers to define the data tier of a new product architecture.

? This candidate will specifically focus on the data model, database stored procedures, and performance tuning on both Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle.

? Evaluates, recommends and implement tools, technologies and processes to ensure product quality and performance.

? Serves as a resource and mentor to other product development teams for database-related issues.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

? 5+ years of experience performing core DBA activities on large-scale applications including stored procedure development and system tuning.

? In-depth knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and/or Oracle (preferably both)

? Solid data architecture skills, with extensive experience in logical data modeling and physical database design for large, complex, multi-tier software applications.

? Strong background in designing databases for enterprise-class software applications with demanding requirements for performance and scalability.

? Familiar with development methodologies and practices in a commercial software product development environment.

? Candidate should possess excellent communication skills and be capable of providing technical thought leadership through sound judgment and superior technical knowledge.

? Experience with conceptual data modeling and UML is highly desirable.

? Experience with data warehousing, business intelligence and ETL tools is a plus.

? Experience with ERP, CRM or HRIS systems is a plus.

? B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or a related field.
