Senior Engineer - Common Platform Software

Seeking to hire a Sr. Engineer in either Cedar Rapids, Iowa or Everett, WA.

Primary Role: This carries responsibilities for the design, implementation and testing of firmware and other system software on innovative Windows CE and Windows Mobile hand-held computers. The successful candidate will participate in overall system architecture design and development. Examples of work responsibilities include porting, and testing the software to control graphics, touch screen, keyboard, memory and other system components. This candidate would also participate in qualifying and updating Intermec software in existing designs as needed due to hardware components going end of life, compliance with ROHS, or 3rd party software updates.

Major duties and responsibilities:

Champion overall technologies used in assigned products and technologies.
Assist in product definition activities.
Design and implement WinCE and other system software components to specification and committed dates.
Provide accurate estimates of the development effort for the assigned projects.
Assist hardware designers in developing and debugging their designs.
Develop high-level test plans and test code to verify developed modules.
Develop documentation for all public interfaces and component functions.
Interface with management on project status, risks and contingency plans.
Communicate effectively with customers, field personnel and peers to clarify design and technical issues.
Be a solid team player in a challenging and fast moving technical environment.
Must remain aware of regulatory responsibilities and remain current in technical areas including Sarbanes-Oxley

Education:

Four year engineering degree required
5+ years industry experience preferred

Position Requirements:

Proven track record of innovative design experience.
Ability to handle state-of-the-art technologies and complex projects.
Expert in firmware and Windows system level programming.
Expert in ARM architecture and ARM compatible hardware
Expert in using various debugging tools such as ICE?s, logic analyzers and oscilloscopes.
Familiarity with battery powered computing environments and power management concepts.
Experience with peripheral device integration (i.e. keyboard, graphics controllers, printers, etc.).
Experienced in the use of version control concepts and systems.
Strong team participation and leadership skills.
Ability to work with an interdisciplinary team that develops hardware as well as software components.
Ability to document software design in a readable and understandable manner
