Senior Oracle Database Administrator

A Lehi company is seeking a Senior Oracle DBA. Job Description: Responsible for leading the implementation and design of databases, maintaining and monitoring existing databases, resolving database issues that may be complex, optimizing performance, and implementing protocols for disaster recovery and security. Responsibilities Include: - Provide 24x7 customer response to requests for support on database performance issues. Provide advice, task direction, and guidance to others and correct and communicate resolution through appropriate channels. - Recommend long-term technology solutions in accordance with an understanding of the methodology, architecture, and business needs of the organization. - Proactively maintain database performance by monitoring space, CPU usage, fragmentation of data and by tuning queries, etc. Assist other IT staff with complex problems and analyze and resolve issues using database tools. Determine, implement, and oversee the need for database maintenance and communicate/coordinate with affected customers, minimizing business interruption wherever possible. - Work with other IT staff, System Engineers, Software Developers, and appropriate parties to coordinate integration and ensure compatibility of hardware, operating systems, database tools, and applications. - Ensure database integrity by developing, documenting, communicating, managing and enforcing protocols involving changes to database structure, data, procedures, and user access. - Develop, communicate, and carry out procedures designed to facilitate recovery from database failure, such as backups, recovery, archiving, and exports. - Work with teams to evaluate new database needs. Qualifications :
Requirements Education: „X Bachelor¡¦s degree required in applicable field „X Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required Additional Requirements: „X 5+ years experience with Oracle as a DBA in Oracle9i or 10g, in Unix OS- prefer Solaris. „X Experience with scripting of stored procedures using PL/SQL, SQL/PLUS, shell scripting. „X Experience with installing RAC a plus „X Oracle software installation and upgrade „X Database performance monitoring and tuning „X Database backup and recovery „X Database troubleshooting and problem resolution „X Database capacity planning, physical database design and implementation „X Must also be capable of working independently with a minimum amount of supervision Desired Skills: „X Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server a plus.
