Job Description:

Austin-based software development company seeking experienced software developer to play integral role in power-to-the-front-line engineering organization.  The quality development team develops, enhances, and maintains existing test frameworks, test suites and test cases.  The successful quality engineering candidate must have an established track-record of working side-by-side with product developers to build quality in and through the entire development process. 

 

After-the-fact test engineers won?t find a home in this engineering team.  If we need to mention that an intense desire to identify and solve problems; and meticulously track your efforts and results is required, then you?ve not worked in a Quality-Driven software engineering organization.  Come check us out!

 

Responsibilities

–  Document and maintain test plans, test environments, procedures and process
–  Perform regression, functional, performance and stress testing on supported platforms
–  Provide test coverage and test results matrix
–  Identify and report root causes for software defects
–  Utilize defect-tracking system and source control system
–  Solve or recommend solutions to very complex issues and problems
–  Evaluate product release quality

 

Required Experience

–  Extensive knowledge of quality assurance standards, practices and process, test criteria evaluation, boundary conditions testing, black box/white box testing
–  Detailed understanding of complete software development process and phases
–  Excellent C/C++ and scripting skills (PERL, ksh, bash, batch)
–  Multi-Platform experience: multiple versions/flavors of Windows and UNIX
–  General database and data management concepts
–  Familiarity with SQL and relational interfaces (ODBC, OLEDB, JDBC)

 

Additional Experience (Pluses):

- Knowledge in database, data management infrastructure, application programming domains
- Basic understanding of technology/programming paradigms such as  Java, C++, VB, .NET, XML
- Expertise in SQL interfaces testing
- Expertise in performance testing
- Expertise in test automation (GUI and non-GUI)

- Extensive experience with InstallShield, versions 10, 10.5 and 11.5

 

Education & Experience:
–  Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience
–  Minimum of 5-7 years in software development and/or test automation development
