B?WE BELL + HOWELL employs a world class software development team focused on providing innovative solutions for business to customer communications, including electronic delivery, printing, and USPS mail handling.  We are seeking a  Senior Software Lead to join our team in Baltimore, MD.  Our ideal candidate will have a combination of strong software development skills in a product release driven environment along with the ability to lead a small team of Software Developers.  This position will require the knowledge and use of industry specific tools and languages, and a proven ability to quickly learn and use new tools and languages is critical for success in this role.

 

 Required Skills:Strong C language programming / debugging skills. Strong Win32 / Linux application development skills. Experience programming in COBOL Proficiency with Unix base scripting languages Firm understanding of diagnostic, problem isolation and problem resolution techniques Ability to lead a small team of Software Developers on day to day tasks Solid verbal and written communication skills

 

Experience and Abilities:Bachelors Degree in a related technical field with 7+ years experience relevant to the above requirements Ability to work within a team environment and independently Ability to communicate effectively with team members and various levels of management. Prior experience as a team lead in a software product development environment Ability to maintain and work with Win32 environments (Windows 2000/2003, XP) and Linux environments (Red Hat AS 3 & 4) Ability to produce clear, concise technical documentation.

 

Industry specific preferred skills: 

** Training may be provided for these skills.Working knowledge of AFP, Metacode, PCL BAL programming / debugging stills Familiarity with USPS / CASS / PAVE regulations.
