Senior Technical Sales Engineer

Job Description:
This individual will be responsible for removing all technical roadblocks to closing Software Solution deals. Other immediate responsibilities will include hands-on responsibility for pre-sales functions including understanding and gathering customer requirements, technical presentations and demonstrations, Proofs of Concept (POCs), and articulating the business value of our solutions.  Reviews of case loads for engineers on team, including coaching and advice, to ensure issues are progressing in a professional and timely manner.  Identifying training requirements based on staff feedback, arranging training sessions with the relevant development personnel, and assisting in or independently delivering internal training.  Creating and maintaining product defect case entries with Product Management on behalf of customer issues arising during any software evaluation.  Periodic case summaries and participation in conference calls for customers with high-priority issues.  Assisting other engineers, based on technical ability, on their cases.  Reviewing internal e-mail aliases and forums, and providing answers to questions asked by engineering colleagues. Attendance at regularly scheduled training events and sessions with Product Management. Attendance and participation at regular departmental meetings.  Participating in PrismTech team sales calls, meetings, and other internal responsibilities.  Writing and/or reviewing technical articles and FAQs for customer extranet web site.  Conducting personal research, learning, and experimentation in order to improve technical skills on the PrismTech product line and related technologies.

 

Location:
Burlington, MA,  or Saddle Brook, NJ (Relocation not included)

Typical Experience:

4-7 years' experience with relevant technology, including:

Object-oriented programming (especially Java, but C++ experience also beneficial)
UML
Relational databases (Oracle, SQLServer)
Distributed computing (especially CORBA)
Familiarity with the Application Lifecycle, including Define, Design, Develop, Test, Deploy, and Manage. Some familiarity with software development methodologies (e.g. Agile, Extreme) and software engineering principles (e.g. CMM)
Expertise with Windows NT/2000/XP and Unix (Solaris, HP-UX, AIX, or Linux) operating system fundamentals
Good conceptual understanding of multi-tier client server applications 
Familiarity with load testing tools and/or performance monitoring tools
Experience demonstrating strong customer focus with superior written and verbal skills
Experience demonstrating ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team and demonstrate technical leadership

Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a closely related technical field (Master's preferred)
