Senior Web Applications Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a talented and highly motivated software engineer with expertise in Java/J2EE and other modern languages, as well as a passion for front-end web application development. In this position, you will be a valued member of the engineering staff with the ability to take on all kinds of software engineering projects. You will also become the subject matter expert for the front-end, which includes but is not limited to Java, JSP, HTML, JavaScript, AJAX, and CSS.
Required skills
BS in Computer Science or Engineering.2+ years web development experience in any language or a MS in Computer Science.Proficiency in Java, Servlets, and JSPUnderstanding of modern browser-based technologies including HTML/DHTML, JavaScript, AJAX and CSS, and a desire to grow in this area.Experience working with cross-browser compatibility and multiple browser support including browser degradation strategies, Mac and Mozilla-based browsers. You will be fully responsible for development in this area of the product.Interest in taking on advanced projects outside the area of UI, such as those involving EJB, JDBC, and stored procedure development.Excellent troubleshooting skills and a creative attitude when going after sometimes tricky and mysterious problems.Strong oral and written communication skills.Commitment to delivering projects on time.Good judgment and ability to come up with solid solutions; a knack for finding the simple, ?right? answer.Ability to understand requirements, help with design and specification documents, and estimate your own schedulesAbility to work with light supervision.
Desired skills
Experience in other languages such as ASP.NET/PHP/CGI/Ruby and/or C/C#/C++/PythonKnowledge of at least one major database platform and SQL.Experience with EJB, the JBoss application server, and TomcatExperience with XML, XSLT, and XML schemaExperience with Flash
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
New Feature Development (65% of time) Research, design and develop new feature enhancements for company core products.Work with Aplia?s domain experts, product management, customer support and sales to review requirements & technical specifications Review test plans with QA & participate in code reviews with other developers. Participate and contribute in conceiving future technology and next generation products
Maintenance & Support (35% of time)
Support QA cycles with fast bug fix turnarounds and by delivering high-quality code to QARotate engineering on-call duties, handling escalations from both tech support and IT/Operations teams.Rotate monthly build responsibility
