Software Applications Engineer for 2D and 3D Graphics

Role QCT's software applications engineers support customers with understanding, integrating, testing and optimizing performance of software features for ASICs supporting a variety of air interfaces and other related technologies including multimedia.

This role involves working with QCTs customers to integrate, troubleshoot and optimize QCT's SVG and OpenGL ES based 2D/3D Graphics solutions onto customer handsets.
Training, assisting customers with software integration and development, assistance with software and system debugging, handling customer Q&A, interfacing closely with San Diego-based developers are some of the key daily activities in this role.

It is a very challenging position requiring the candidate to learn and internalize QCT software and operation concepts very quickly, supporting a wide range of software discussion (e.g. ranging from low level embedded software issues to carrier level features deployment and planning). It exposes the candidate to the key players in the wireless industry worldwide and places him or her right in the heart of the dynamism of 3G wireless deployment. Qualcomm is seeking the best candidates available worldwide for this technical support position. Some travel for on-site customer support may be required.

Skills/Experience
Good knowledge in 2-D and 3-D graphics processing as well as experience with OpenGL, Direct3D, or SVG APIs. Experience with graphics solution in embedded system is desirable. Experience with game development is a plus. Experience with advanced graphics architectures such as programmable vertex and pixel shaders and their usage is also a plus.

3 years experience required.

Software integration and debugging on embedded real time operating systems.

Strong experience in C programming required.

Additional Skills
Prior experience with portable hand-held devices and technical support for customers desirable.

Experience in software configuration management and version control an advantage. Familiarity with C++, ARM-assembly, emulators/JTAG-debuggers, test-mobiles & logging tools an advantage. Ability to work as part of a dedicated project team or independently essential.

Education Requirements
BSCS/BSEE required with 3+ years of experience; Master's degree preferred
