Software Configuration/QA Manager

FireSocket is seeking an enthusiastic and detail oriented Software Configuration/QA Manager for a fast growing software development company.

Overview:
The high level responsibilities for this position are 1) perform production ready software testing and 2) load completed code to production servers and ensure new code works as designed.

Configuration Management will consist of:
The QA Manager is responsible for all aspects of code management from the time the code is completed by developers until the code is loaded into production. Specific tasks include: managing code in Visual Source Safe, comparing and merging code as necessary, promoting completed code to test and production environments, and testing final code in production. 

Front-end testing will consist of:
The QA Manager is to provide front-end testing of web based software.  Testing will include data validation, screen flow, speed acceptance, and a reconciliation of defined specifications to the product delivered.

Back end testing will consist of:
The QA Manager may be required to create and run very basic SQL queries. The Manager will also be required to create and/or modify data for testing purposes. The Manager will need to determine that the data is valid and accurate as well as verifying against defined specifications.

Responsibilities:Take the lead in defining configuration management process for production and test environments.Promotion of code to production and test environments. Moving code into the production environment will require working during evening hours during the week and on weekends (i.e. 10:00 PM +) Prepare and execute test plans for software releases to maximize the test coverage and improve testing efficiency.Create and maintain testing tools and scripting to conduct regression testing.Work closely with the software developers and project managers to coordinate testing efforts and techniques to assure quality releases.Write ?What?s New? documents for end-users. These documents will get posted as a link inside the web application to help teach users how to use new release features. Write clear and concise bug descriptions for developers.Development of test documentation as required, including strategies, plans, summaries, test cases, and test scripts.

Since this position is urgent you will be given immediate consideration should your resume reflect the following skills sets needed!:2 + Years experience in configuration management  3+ Years experience as a Software QA Engineer, which will included exposure to deployment and operations issues involved with multi-tier systemsIntermediate experience with software test engineering principles (white & black box), QA theory and methodsSolid experience using Visual SourceSafe (VSS) as a code repository and development of processes which incorporate VSSEvening hours (i.e. after 10:00 pm) during the week and over weekends will be required to load code into production. Good understanding of web based software solutions, software test strategy and software testing tools. Ability to write detailed test plans BA or BS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
