Software Development Engineer /TEST - Vendor Services

Amazon.com's newly minted Vendor Services team has a rare startup opportunity on a small but quickly growing team focused on building applications that provide fee based services to our biggest books, music, and DVD vendors. Work with the company's largest businesses to build innovative products that leverage Amazon.com's unique capabilities and position to reach beyond--and even redefine--the traditional buying/merchandizing relationship.

The team is looking for an experienced, self-driven, and highly motivated Software Development Engineer in Test who is passionate about quality and the customer experience.? Successful candidates will be independent thinkers, fully capable of recognizing functional or performance problem areas and finding effective solutions.

Job responsibilities include working with developers and project managers in an agile SCRUM environment to develop and execute test plans in support of product development.? This will involve testing products while in development rather than when complete, thereby catching problems early and ensuring quality during every step of the development life cycle.? Experience devising regression, functional, performance, load, stress, security and integration tests to ensure system performance and integrity is a must.



BS in Computer Science or equivalent
3+ years of hands-on experience writing automated tests using C++/Java/Perl, both for web applications and back-end services.
Background in testing in a Linux environment using shell scripts
JavaScript and SQL experience a big plus
Ability to make pragmatic compromises to make progress
Strong interpersonal and communication skills both in person and in writing.
