Software Development Engineer/User Interface - AmazonConnect

Amazon.com is seeking a talented and customer-focused software development engineer with a specialty in user interface technologies for the AmazonConnect team. AmazonConnect is an exciting new program providing a unique and personal connection between our customers with their favorite authors and celebrities.

We need an experienced engineer who has a history working on large scale projects. You must be a customer experience advocate and capable of building highly scalable and extensible software for a high profile feature with a lot of business ownership. You must provide demonstrated capability of designing and implementing well-factored systems that scale with large amounts of visitors and data. Knowledge of blogs, content syndication, social networking and online reputations is a plus. You must be comfortable in an ownership position, capable of working effectively with business owners, usability specialists, designers and other developers. You will need to step into the role quickly, taking over support and extension of existing software, as well as implementing new user experiences from the ground up

You must have the ability to manage development on multiple projects while providing ongoing operational support. You must be capable of writing technical design documents, prototyping new features, troubleshooting complex software, and implementing quality production software. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.




The ideal candidate will have a solid background in software engineering with an emphasis in user interface technologies. A bachelors degree is required; one in Computer Science or a related field is preferred. The right candidate will have at least 3-5 years of user interface software development experience, preferably in e-commerce or other web-based interactive software.

Demonstrated experience in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, DHTML, and Perl are required. Knowledge of Java, Mason, XML, and AJAX are a major plus. Comfort working in a UNIX environment is critical. Functional knowledge of Photoshop is also a plus.
