Software Development Intern (SED-098)

DESCRIPTION:   ARA is known for our innovative approaches to visualization of critical information in applications for the Department of Defense. The successful applicant will work on projects involving leading edge technologies such as physics-based modeling and simulation as well as distributed component technologies. Job duties will include: software design, implementation, review, documentation, and test as well as providing assistance to other team members, across a broad range of project areas including: user-interface, XML, database, 3D solid modeling, modularization, and distributed processing.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

EDUCATION:

Working toward B.S. (Junior or Senior) or advanced (M.S./Ph.D.) degree in Computer Science or a related technical field with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. 

REQUIRED SKILLS:

? Working knowledge of Windows environment and C++ programming.

? Understanding of data management/mining applications development.

? Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to contribute in a team environment.
? Familiarity with distributed computing (COM, .NET, CORBA or XML) or database technologies (SQL, Oracle, Access, etc.).
? Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance eligibility requirements.

DESIRED SKILLS:

 

Prior internship, co-op, or work experience in this field is a plus.

 

US citizenship with an active DoD Secret clearance or inactive for less than two years is desirable, but applicants eligible to obtain secret clearance will be considered.

 

OTHER:

The job location is Raleigh, NC.  Occasional travel is required for this position.
