The Software Development Engineer is responsible for all phases of the software development lifecycle for new and existing programs.  The position involves daily interaction with other team members to deliver a quality product in a timely manner.  The position also requires interaction with employees outside the development team and in some cases with representatives of BlueCube clients.





 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

?  Perform responsibilities for designing and architecting small to medium applications and participating in the technical reviews of large applications.

?  Write technical specifications based upon functional specification.

?  Develop new application features based upon functional and technical specifications.

?  Conduct unit testing of development work to validate functionality against specifications.

?  Conduct unit testing to ensure the proper performance of the application using real world data sets and scenarios.

?  Resolve application defects reported by product support and quality assurance programs.

?  Consult with clients, client representatives, and product managers to clarify specification and design issues.

?  Write documentation to describe application functional or technical specifications.

?  Participate in code and design reviews.

?  Follow established BlueCube Software development methodology using the quality milestone measurements.

?  Review the work of peers to ensure consistency and quality.

?  Provide status updates of development activities.

?  Other job related duties as assigned.

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

 

Formal education level: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field with 2+ years experience or a Masters degree with 1+ years experience.

 

Training:

 

?  SQL and database concepts

?  Server side web scripting using JSP/ASP/ASP.net

?  Programming languages Java/C#/C++

 

Specific skills & proficiency level:

 

?  Intermediate proficiency in database development using SQL.

?  Intermediate proficiency in client and server side web development using javascript, vbscript, HTML, ASP.NET, JSP.

?  Intermediate proficiency compiled languages such as VB or C++.

?  Exposure to Microsoft .Net framework.

?  Exposure to object and processes modeling using UML or OOAD techniques.

 

Experience:

 

?  Development using compiled languages such as C++ (2 years)

?  Microsoft office suite of products (1 year)

?  System analysis or end user consultation (1 year)
