Software Engineer, Devices QA

MetaJiva is looking to find a Software Design and Test Engineer to join the staff of one of our favorite clients, UIEvolution.

 

The ideal Software Design and Test Engineer candidate works with the UIEvolution development team, other QA engineers and project leaders to identify, evaluate and help resolve product risks in testing's areas of responsibility.

 

MAJOR DUTIESThe Software Design and Test Engineer finds, isolates and reports defects on thin client applications/platforms embedded in mobile wireless devices. These applications operate on a UIEvolution based thin client component running on a small device such as a mobile telephone or personal digital assistant, using internal storage resources and APIs and communicating with back-end servers via a wireless network. Key areas of testing focus include: functionality, performance, usability, and integration and compatibility with target client devices. This will include the review of device APIs, thin client APIs, and designing and developing test code that will exercise and validate the proper operation through the use of these APIs. This will require the capability of writing code in C/C++, Java, or Perl. The Software Design and Test Engineer is responsible for all phases of testing. This includes: test strategy and planning, automation development and test case documentation, product test passes and bug reporting, fault isolation, and follow up with development to ensure problems are resolved. This includes maintaining test software configurations on a variety of client devices; tracking computing industry hardware and software trends to ensure that the client test lab is appropriately equipped to match end user software and hardware configurations, and keeping track of the QA device inventory.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

 

The preferred candidate will come from a software and application product environment where building and delivery quality commercial software on time is imperative. Familiarity with the software development process, the software development life cycle, and software testing methodologies is required. The ideal candidate should be comfortable with and thrive in a deadline-oriented environment that is fast-paced and focused on driving clean products out the door.

 

The following experience is required:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, CIS, or similar. Coding competency in either C/C++, Java, JSP, or Perl. Windows NT 2000 administration tools, particularly Internet Information Server. At least 3 years experience in a technical testing role.

 

In addition, the following experience is preferred:Mobile/handheld/wireless device application testing experience. Experience with Qualcomm BREW development environment
