Software Engineer I

POSITION SUMMARY: The Software Engineer functions as a key member of the Development team for the assigned business unit. Duties involve aspects of design, engineering, and interaction with QA to implement commercial medical/dental software products.  (Interviews begin the end of July; position is located in American Fork, Utah. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

?  Engineer, code, and debug both new and legacy code

?  Perform specific skills and competence in reference to research and analysis of technologies, desired

?  Derive and design technical specifications from general product requirements and specs, desired

?  Ability to implement from technical specifications, desired

?  Problem solving skills, diagnose, find and test solutions

?  Ability to create and perform unit tests

?  Participate in coding and code reviews for final product

?  Be accountable for agreed upon development schedule

?  Assist in quality assurance measures (code reviews, unit and interaction test case creation, etc.)

?  Assist User Documentation Specialist in assembling information for user documentation

?  Assist Technical Support and development team in solving programming-related problems

?  Works closely with supervisor

? Ability to multi-task and work well under high pressure

?  Good communication and interpersonal skills

?  Works well independently as well as in a team

?  Participate in special projects and performs other duties as required

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

?  Associates Degree in a Computer Science area is required

?  Minimum of 1-3 years of software engineering experience

?  Proficiency in applicable object-oriented software languages; C++ required (others preferably Java, C#, Delphi)

?  Current on new technology and development techniques within the software industry

?  Experience in object-oriented software engineering methodologies

 

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

? Proficiency with Relational Databases and SQL

? Proficiency in applicable object-oriented modeling languages (e.g. UML, OSA)

? Database schema modeling and comprehension

? XML and XSLT experience

? .Net or J2EE architecture skills

? Specific technologies

? Specific Domain experience

? Ability to understand legacy code, domain space and refactor to new code base

? Ability to handle frequent object model and database schema changes

? Good analytical and design skills at single product/single environment level.  Skills in research and analysis, project planning and implementation

? Proficient PC skills with working knowledge of Window/Win 95/98/NT development

? Customer-facing skills

? Leadership skills

? Documentation skills

? Training, mentoring skills

? Innovation and IP experience

? Dental industry knowledge and experience in a dental practice or with dental practice management software preferred
