Software Engineer, Sustaining

Job Profile

As a Software Engineer in the Sustaining group you will help support and maintain OpenPages governance, risk and compliance management software. You will be part of a dynamic engineering organization that strives to deliver top quality products to make our customers successful in their governance, risk and compliance management efforts. The position will require working closely with OpenPages? Engineering Management, Sales, and Customer Support & Services organizations.

 

Currently this position is open in our corporate headquarters in Waltham, MA. This position does not generally require travel. Detailed Description

Your primary responsibilities will be to maintain exiting OpenPages code and to work with Customer Support to resolve escalated customer issues.  This will require diagnosing and resolving problems in complex systems. When needed, you will need to provide both short-term solutions and long-term fixes for problems escalated from Customer Support.  The ideal person for this position will be someone who is comfortable with all aspects of a Web-based application; from server to user interface.

 

Other responsibilities may include supporting internal customers, creating knowledge base articles, and assisting in demo creation. 

 Mandatory Skills and Experience Minimum of 3 years software design and construction experience with 2 having been on Web based applications Prior support roles (internal or external) on software projects that completed the full lifecycle and were maintained and enhanced in a production environmentProven ability to debug and resolve problems in complex components with interdependencies for an enterprise Web application Proven ability to work cross organizationally to successfully complete tasks Competency in the key knowledge areas of software construction Proven track record in matrix managed organization Experience with and/or knowledge of:  J2EE, Struts & Tiles, HTML, XML,  Java Design Patterns, Object Oriented Analysis and Design, Relational Databases (Oracle), Content Management Systems, Web infrastructure and Testing Strategies
  Desirable Skills and ExperienceHighly motivated, self starter, completes own role largely independently within defined policies and procedures Excellent written, verbal communication, and negotiation skills Project management skills, able to effectively work on multiple projects simultaneously Highly organized with a proven track record of working effectively across functional groups BS, preferably in computer science or technical area or equivalent
