DESCRIPTION OF FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Management of ePO/CMA and VSE sustaining projects and teams. This includes direct interactions with customers, the McAfee sales force, internal engineering groups, various parts of the Support organization, and senior management as appropriate, to ensure timely and effective responses to escalated customer issues. This is a high profile position requiring excellent technical, inter-personal, and communications skills.

This person will be responsible for updating and refining sustaining (maintenance) processes as used by the ePO and CMA project teams, then applying those same processes to the VirusScan Enterprise (VSE) sustaining process.

This includes:

? Timely and efficient responses to customer escalations and queries, both to meet targeted SLA?s for escalations to engineering, and to continually improve customer satisfaction scores.
? Defining and implementing effective engineering processes within the development team. This includes applying best practices such as code reviews and the use of appropriate code analysis tools.
? Ensuring effective, collaborative testing practices are adopted and optimized by the QA team. This includes adopting appropriate best practices being used by the feature development teams and ensuring they are effectively used within the confines of the sustaining processes
? A high level of cross-functional collaboration between Support and Engineering. This is both to manage individual escalations and to ensure that the overall SLA?s for all Support tiers are visible and maintained.
? Creation, maintenance, and distribution of a clear and complete roadmap of releases for the Sustaining team.

The successful candidate will have several years of management experience in a software development organization, and will be able to ensure the team works effectively in stressful situations where customers have short deadlines for urgent fixes.

In addition to managing escalations, the sustaining teams are also responsible for scheduled maintenance development and testing (such as integration testing with anti-virus engine updates, or performing monthly compatibility testing with new security updates). This person needs to ensure that all of the different tasks are planned, prioritized, tracked, and delivered, on time with high quality.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

? Requires a minimum of 5 years direct Software Quality Assurance or Development management experience.
? Experience in Networking protocols, Windows Operating and file systems. Experience in managing an engineering team (ideally a cross-functional team) on Software Development consumer or Enterprise class applications.
? Knowledge and formal training of software engineering principles, methods and practices.
? Experience and training with scripting and high-level programming languages (e.g. C++, Java, PERL) and application of such to the testing process.
? Microsoft certified in either operating systems and or office applications (e.g. MCSA, CNE).
? Knowledge or training of networking infrastructures and technologies.
? Extensive working knowledge of defect tracking and configurations management systems able to perform and lead root-cause analysis.
? Significant experience in developing effective tests from high-level design specification and or planning documents.
? Regular attendance during core business hours while maintaining the ability to have a flexible schedule.
? Maintain, promote and support a positive work environment.
? Ability to plan, organize, document as well as lead a testing effort on or within a project.
? Ability to research and understand the corporate products, wide range of technologies and learn additional technologies as required.
? Execute testing assignments, document and provide testing results to management.
? Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to perform formal group or peer-to-peer presentations.
? Promote and influence the corporate Engineering Software Development Lifecycle process.
? Active participation in project scheduling and test planning.
? Active participation in the code review, inspection process.
? Active participation in the review of product and customer documentation hardcopy or electronic.
? Ability to complete tasks on schedule and help identify areas for team or process improvement.
? Ability to mentor and work with junior members of the team.
? Maintain log of daily activities and report status on a regular basis.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:

Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or closely related equivalent.
