My client, a leading Medical Device Company in the North San Jose area is seeking a Lead SQA Engineer position.

SQA Lead/Manager:

ROLE:
 Supervises and coordinates the activities of Software Quality Engineering Staff in the development and execution of software test strategies, techniques, and test suite deliverables for testing complex software subsystems within project boundaries and helps establish those boundaries.
 Uses independent judgment to assess project testing status and product acceptance.
 Determines the means to overcome technical problems.
 Analyzes, reports and maintains documentation of test results.
 Evaluates and recommends quality/productivity aids.
 Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
 Interacts with senior internal and external personnel.
 Demonstrates self-initiative and the ability to work on assignments with minimal direction.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 Exercises responsibility for employee training and development, and motivating supervised employees.
 Determines scope of work for complex tasks and establishes project test schedules for medium to large Software Quality Engineering teams. Responsible for ensuring teams adhere to project test schedules.
 Ability to work on multiple projects, in different stages of completion at one time.
 Responsible for establishing and documenting software project test strategies and techniques in a Software Subsystem Verification Plan. Responsible for translating requirements for complex software subsystems into traceable test suite documentation including: Software Subsystem Verification Designs, Software Subsystem Verification Procedures.
 Participates in code inspections, technical reviews, and design reviews.
 Works proactively with staff from Systems Verification and Systems Validation to determine the best strategy for project test coverage.
 Presents project test data at project review meetings, and presents product acceptance determination. Communicates project test status, progress, problems and changes to program as well as functional management. Recommends options to resolve testing issues. Participates in defect reviews.
 Initiates interaction with other departments to maintain open information channels and to facilitate transfer of technology. Demonstrates knowledge of Manufacturing, Service, Quality/Regulatory, Training requirements and actively participates in multifunctional product development teams and develops expertise recognized by other technical groups in BDIS.
 Contributes to the advancement of process capability for software quality engineering. Leads brainstorming sessions for software quality engineering process improvements, identifies specific improvement options, and presents to management. Writes/revises Desk Procedures, with appropriate reviews and approvals. Recommends innovations and improved methods, and tools. Presents new test, technical and process concepts to advance the capabilities of the group.
 Continues pursuit of software quality engineering knowledge through seminars, webinars, technical publications, and contact with members of profession at technical meetings.
 Performs other related duties and assignments as required.
 Keeps abreast of the basic requirements for compliance in own area of work and complies with those requirements. Participates as required in training on regulatory issues affecting own area of work. Brings regulatory compliance questions/issues to the attention of management.
 Promotes a safe work environment. May provide recommendations on maintaining the safety of the work environment. Participates in Environmental Health and Safety programs. Addresses corrective actions whenever a hazard is identified. Notifies supervisor of all observed hazardous conditions or unsafe work practices.


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS :

 Automation testing exp specially unit testing (NUnit/JUnit).
 7-8 years of SQA exp with 1-2 years of Team Lead/Manager experience.
 Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, coach and supervise exempt and non-exempt personnel.
 Demonstration of value creation for the business through effective implementation of software testing methodologies, process improvements, productivity improvements, and applied software testing practices.
 Effective project planning and organizational skills.
 Demonstrated creativity, specifically applied to solving problems and generating new ideas.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Typically requires a BS degree in a related discipline (PhD is equivalent to MS plus two years of directly related technical experience; MS is equivalent to BS plus one year of directly related technical experience) and eight years of direct technical experience in software quality engineering, or equivalent combination of related education and experience.
