Solutions Engineer III

Primary Purpose:

The Solutions Engineer III is instrumental in analyzing, designing, developing, customizing and testing the functionality of Captaris products for commercial and end-user applications. This position is solutions-oriented and requires regular interactions with end users and customers; and will be working with multiple platforms, tools and technologies.

Summary of Key Responsibilities:

oCollaborates with Solutions Architects to develop scalable, extensible and reusable enterprise-level solutions per customer requirements.
oDevelops custom applications and integrations across a wide-variety of platforms and technologies. Participates in analyzing, designing, programming and modifying software products, as well as performing unit-testing and installation as necessary.
oProvides technical leadership with external developers for projects that are fully or partially outsourced.
oProvides development support and consultation for in-progress and completed solutions as required, including bug fixing and performing maintenance tasks.
oParticipates in developing Statements of Work (SOWs) with Project Managers for custom projects; provides estimates and work breakdown; participates in pre-sales meetings; and assists in RFP/RFQ process as necessary.
oAuthors, or assists in generating Product Requirements Documents and Architecture Design Documents.
oParticipates and completes special projects and assignments as required. Participates in code and design reviews, and assist other developers and Project Managers.
oSupport other key teams (Sales, Sales Engineering, Product Engineering) to maximize revenue opportunities to the company.
oSome travel may be necessary - between 10-15% travel may be required for visiting customers, providing on-site consultation and development support.

Qualifications:
Technical and Functional Skills Required:

oMinimum of five years of software development experience with technical/systems analysis experience
oBachelors degree in Computer Science or related field; or equivalent work experience
oExpert knowledge of C#, and .NET framework including ASP.NET. Thorough understanding of C++, COM or VB6/VB.NET required
oSolid understanding of SQL (MS SQL Server) and database development.
oDemonstrate expertise and in-depth knowledge with two or more of the following technologies and platforms: Java/J2EE, Unix/Linux, BizTalk or Microsoft business server products, reporting and data warehouse (OLAP, OLTP, ETL, Business Intelligence), enterprise architecture, system profiling, performance and optimization, data architecture, networking (firewall, proxies, TCP/IP, WAP), code reuse/framework development/design patterns, or system security

oRegular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job

Desired Qualifications:

oExperience with other database platforms such as Oracle, DB2, Sybase, Informix or MySQL a plus
oExperience with Windows Workflow Foundation, document management, workflow, document archival, business messaging, OCR or fax server integration strongly desired
oExperience with business and enterprise systems integration with Exchange, MS Office Automation (Office, Outlook), SharePoint, or other business systems (Oracle, PeopleSoft, SAP, etc.) strongly desired
oExperience with XML, XSLT and web technologies strongly desired (SOAP, web services, etc.)
oExperience with requirements analysis and business modeling strongly desired
oPrior experience working within professional services or consulting environment strongly desired
oPrior experience as System Administrator, Network Administrator or Webmaster desired
oExperience with Agile or Extreme Programming a plus
