In light of our Silicon Valley expansion, Webroot Software is currently seeking a Source Configuration Engineer to manage the tasks associated with configuration engineering. This individual contributor role is responsible for monitoring, recording, and controlling change in order to maintain product integrity. This position requires overseeing the planning, development and implementation of product builds and build release.
RESPONSIBILITIES
? Work closely with project managers, system administrators, and development teams during the development, test, and launch phases of the software development life cycle to configure and release application/web site code into test and production environments
? Perform version control and labeling of the build and all supporting documentation
? Execute the deployment process on components checked out from version control only
? Track application configuration through Development, QE, and Production environments
? Manage release schedules and coordinate releases for multiple applications in Windows, environments
? Manage source code control system
? Manage scheduled jobs using job deployment tool
? Attend change control meetings and initiate follow-up actions when appropriate
? Engage applications not previously under Release Management, and establish appropriate release processes for such applications
? Participate in process improvement initiatives related to the Enterprise and Consumer Release Management process
? Communicate with developers, product managers, usability engineers and technical support specialists
? Work closely with development and quality teams to create SCM standards
? Work closely with QE Automation lead to create nightly automation testing processes
? Works to see that all enhancements in process, build labels, and released products are documented
? Identify and propose areas of improvement throughout the software development process
? Provide technical assistance and source control training to other departments as required
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
? Bachelor?s degree in technical field, Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Science or equivalent industry experience is acceptable
? 5+ years proven work experience in source configuration role
? Must have experience supporting a code repository in an Agile software development lifecycle
? Must have strong knowledge of SCM Best Practices, Scripting Languages (Perl, Python, VBScript, Ant, etc.), and Programming Languages
? Must have strong knowledge of SCM Tools (Perforce, CVS, Subversion)
? Ability to Engage applications not previously under Release Management, and establish appropriate release processes for such applications
? Prefer experience with Continuous Integration tools (CruiseControl, Anthill)
? Prefer experience with Defect tracking tools (TestTrack Pro, bugzilla, etc.)
? Must possess a proven track record for releasing consumer products into the wild
? Must have a strong ability to manage a system with multiple trunks
