Sr. Database Administrator (Oracle/SQL)

DUTIES >> RESPONSIBILITIES: This is a senior operational Database Administrator position, providing upper level SqlServer and Oracle administration support in a diverse environment, including business, manufacturing, research and development. Provide focused operational support to customer project teams. Provide advanced problem analysis and resolution. Contribute to process development and improvement. Provide database consulting services (SqlServer, Oracle) for development and business customers, including performance tuning, features use and implementation. Contribute to architectural directions and new features evaluation/implementation. This position will also provide the expertise, standards and procedures to ensure quality design and performance of database structures and interface code. Provide expert resources for database design. Convert logical data models to physical design. Extend database schemas for vendor applications and create new schemas for custom ap!
plications. Work with development teams to define and implement standards for database schema design. Ensure that schemas are designed with consideration for future integration and optimal database performance. Perform design/code review on database objects. Collaborate with development teams to tune new and existing SQL, PL/SQL and other database access interfaces. Work with the DBA team to guide and educate SDLC teams on appropriate use of database features and structures such as stored procedures, functions, and packages, function based indexes, bitmap indexes, text indexes, materialized views, etc. Collaborate with the DBA team on project support, schema placement, tuning, and database architecture technology and direction planning. Provide database training to the development teams as needed. Work with system administrators to install and implement database associated software.

SKILLS >> REQUIREMENTS: Minimum 5+ years SqlServer on Windows and 3+ years Oracle database administration experience, on a Unix platform (AIX, HP-UX, HP Tru64 UNIX, or Sun Solaris)(Oracle 8i, 9i, 10g). 3+ years experience in SqlServer database development. Project management experience with projects affecting large numbers of customers in a complex environment. Background in a regulated environment is preferred. Substantial operational experience in a 24X7 environment. Ability to take on-call rotation for one week at a time. Solid knowledge of SqlServer and Oracle RDBMS internals. Solid knowledge of SqlServer and Oracle data access paths and CBO behavior. Expert level knowledge in database physical model, backup and recovery, performance tuning, security, and replication. Strong analysis and decision-making skills. Experience with third-party database monitoring tools such as Quest FogLight, Quest Central, and a whole suite of Quest product is essential. Strong de!
velopment skills in Perl or Shell scripting languages. Excellent communications and presentation skills. Experience in technically leading a team is a definite plus. Experience with Java/EJB, and JDBC architectures/issues is preferred. Experience with Advanced Security/Kerberos is a plus.

EDUCATION >> EDUCATION: BS or greater in Computer Science preferred.
