Sr. Oracle Database Administrator

We are seeking a Senior Database Administrator to provide leadership, team vision and direction in the appropriate application of database techniques to meet corporate information requirements. Working with other senior database administration staff, you will consult, advise and assist in the performance of technical activities at our client sites in San Diego.

 Position Responsibilities:  Install, configure and upgrade Oracle server software and related products in a UNIX environment. Design, create, maintain and insure recoverability of Oracle databases in a UNIX environment. Allocate systems storage and develop plans for future storage requirements.(Capacity planning). Establish effective database performance monitoring procedures. Control and monitor user access to databases and maintain database security. Provide reliable, recoverable and scalable database/computing environments to store and integrate company data. Responsible for 7x24 support of production databases. Set up and maintain documentation and standards.

Experience / Skill: Job candidate must have 5+ years of active Oracle database experience working primarily in a Sun Solaris environment. Enterprise production DBA experience working in a mid to large sized company preferred. Oracle database support experience for versions: 7.x, 8.x, 9.x, 10G, 10G2, 9i RAC, or 10G RAC. Oracle database security patch application experience. Expert skills in Oracle database backup and recovery (RMAN, EBU, scripts). Experience in design and implementation of high-availability Oracle solutions (Standby, Data Guard, Advanced replication) in a Veritas Cluster server environment. Strong UNIX shell scripting experience. Extensive experience in SQL tuning and Oracle database performance tuning. Knowledge of networking and enterprise systems architecture. Ability to perform data modeling, logical and physical database design and systems architecture. Strong leadership capabilities--especially during problem/crisis situations. Must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously, meet project deadlines, and work under pressure. Excellent communication, customer service and people skills. Experience with Documentum and Agile a plus.Solid documentation skills. Experience with Oracle HTMLDB a plus. XMLDB, programming skills in Shell, Perl, SQL a big plus.Project Management skills a plus.

Education:  Bachelor's in Computer Science/Information Systems.
