Sr. Programmer/Analyst - SQL DBA/Developer

SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE AND FUNCTION

The primary purpose and function of the Senior DBA / Developer is to act as a critical contributor to an enterprise level database environment. Responsibilities will include Standard DBA tasks such as backup/recovery, performance tuning, and maintenance; data migration and cleansing from FoxPro to SQL Server via Integration Services; and schema changes as required by source system changes.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

? Interact with system analysts and the development team to identify data needs and potential issues.

? Assist with the design and implement solutions to the source system application.

? Database maintenance: including backup, database consistency checks, rebuilding of indexes and gathering server metrics, Backup, restore, data modeling, performance tuning, security modeling and implementation.

? Experience with Disaster Recovery planning and implementation.

? Investigate, plan, and apply necessary SQL Server database patches and fixes.

? Maintain multiple non-production SQL Server environments Document all database architecture and relevant procedures according to established standards.

? Identify and present opportunities to improve data structures.

? Troubleshoot application, code and server errors.

? Create migration scripts to move FoxPro data into SQL Server using SQL Server 2005 SSIS.

? Identify and present opportunities to improve data structures.

? Implement new data architecture in SQL Server.

? Identify data integrity issues.

? Create data cleaner scripts to address identified data integrity issues.

? Other job duties as assigned.

SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS

? Ability to work at a computer for long periods of time.

? Project timelines and work volume / deadlines may often require more than 40 hours per week to complete essential duties of this job.

? Must have mental processes for reasoning, remembering, mathematics and language ability (reading, writing, and speaking the English language) to perform the duties proficiently.

? The noise level in the work environment is normally moderate.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING

? B.S. in Computer Science or a related field is preferred.

? SQL Server 2000/2005; scripting; Windows 2003 Server/XP; Erwin database modeling tool experience are preferred.

? Expert level of knowledge in normalizing and data architecting is preferred.

? Expert level of knowledge in SQL Server stored procedures and functions is preferred.

? Knowledge of FoxPro and .NET is helpful.

? Prefer medical background (veterinary technician, human healthcare, pharmaceutical, etc.)

? Prefer applicant with medical terminology training.

? A minimum of five years of relevant professional experience is required.
