Position Overview

IDC's Applications program is seeking a Sr. Research Analyst who is focused on the impact of supply chain process automation and improvement on overall business growth and is knowledgeable about enterprise applications, particularly in the area of SCM. The Analyst will play a key role in the program in all aspects of research and consulting activities. IDC's SCM service provides a cross-disciplinary solutions view of applications, enabling technologies and processes being brought together to address SCM requirements such as supplier collaboration and strategic sourcing initiatives.

Responsibilities

The Sr. Research Analyst will cover vendor and product competitive positioning and opportunities in the worldwide and North American market for SCM applications as a part of the Enterprise Resource Planning and Product Lifecycle Management business processes. The Sr. Research Analyst will be responsible for program support to gather qualitative and quantitative information, synthesize and analyze industry trends in a logical and forward thinking manner, write and publish research reports, develop market forecast and market revenue share reports, analyze and report on demand-side survey data, and support client inquiries and briefings. The position will require the development of in-depth knowledge of the relevant market, and vendors' service offerings and strategies through regular contact with vendors and customers.

The Analyst will also work with clients and prospects on tactical and strategic planning, participate in and lead consulting engagements, present research and insight at industry events, to clients, and to the trade and business press, and work closely with IDC sales and marketing to develop client prospect strategies and communicate/promote IDC's subscription research and consulting.

Skills and Experience

We are seeking an analyst with a deep understanding of the SCM landscape, including US and worldwide SCM software, business processes and business practice. 8+ years of business experience is required. A bachelors degree, as well as a MBA and/or related software product management or implementation experience is required. Candidates must have demonstrable writing, presentation and spreadsheet modeling and analysis skills. Must be able to work both independently as well as with a team in a collaborative environment and have the ability to develop business, drive the strategic future of the program and identify future business opportunities for IDC. Some travel is required.
