Our QuarkXPress Research and Development (R&D) team continues to keep our software at the forefront of the publishing industry. The members of our terrific team combine their years of programming experience with modern designs and coding techniques. Our large R&D group spans three continents and helps ensure we deliver quality software in a timely fashion.

 

Summary: As a Senior Software Engineer on our QuarkXPress team, you would be responsible for designing the architecture of various components that fit within the entire QuarkXPress software package. You would work closely with your fellow developers and members of the Quality Assurance team to ensure all components integrate and produce a quality product. We are looking for a highly productive self-starter who can help us take our software places our users haven?t even thought of yet.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

? Design the architecture of various text composition, typography, and font components of QuarkXPress

? Provide technical leadership and vision that enhances and keeps QuarkXPress competitive and compelling

? Provide accurate time estimates and schedules of projects

? Communicate clearly with R&D, Quality Assurance, Product Management, and Project Management team members in a globally dispersed work environment to ensure a quality product

? Implement enhancements and bug fixes

? Participate in building and enhancing the R&D team, including taking part in the recruitment process and sharing technical knowledge with other team members

 

Qualifications:

? BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent field

? 6+ years of experience programming in C/C++ and using object-oriented methodologies (experience programming on Windows/Mac OS is a plus)

? 6+ years of experience as a software engineer

? 3+ years of experience as a technical or team leader

? Knowledge of Japanese typography, text composition, and desktop publishing standards

? Japanese language skills (either verbal or written) is a plus

? Knowledge of text composition standards for Korean, Chinese, or other languages a plus

? Expertise in large-scale system architecture and development

? Excellent object-oriented design skills

? Demonstrated written and oral communication skills

? Excellent interpersonal skills

? Ability to work effectively in an international, globally dispersed team

? Proven ability to work with a legacy code base looking for refactoring opportunities

? Knowledge of the multimedia or graphics design industries a plus

? Experience with software project management a plus
