Sr. Software Engineer (PowerBuilder)

InsureWorx provides enterprise software solutions for the commercial insurance industry.? We are looking to hire a full time Sr. Software Engineer to our growing team.

Position Summary
?Works closely with Project Managers, Database Administrators, Architects, Developers, Quality Assurance to develop, test and deploy client based code using PowerBuilder (Versions 10) and Oracle (Versions 10g). Candidate may be required to travel on an occasional basis.


Essential Duties/Responsibilities
?Creates, tests, and maintains PowerBuilder components.
?Can use UML to design interrelationships between PowerBuilder objects and ServerCode objects.
?Performs debugging and testing of PowerBuilder modules.
?Optimizes SQL within PowerBuilder components.
?Participates in Peer Reviews of other developer?s code.
?Mentors Peers in standards/processes/procedures.
?Creates applications under the coaching of the Applications Architect according to the standards currently in use by InsureWorx.
?Take a proactive role in terms of ensuring that development is consistent with all business and technical objectives of InsureWorx.
?Must have experience building PowerBuilder applications implementing large levels of inheritance (> 6).
?Must have experience building PowerBuilder applications implementing Tab and Treeview controls.
?Must have experience working with databases in excess of 250 tables some containing millions of rows of data.
?Must have experience writing complex Oracle packages, procedures and triggers in both on-line and batch modes.
?Must have experience writing complex (6+ table joins) queries in Oracle.
?Must have experience writing complex Oracle PL/SQL in Packages, Procedures, Functions, and Triggers.
?Must have experience with Applications that allow entry and the validation of large amount of complex business data.

Required Education, Experience and Abilities
?5 years current PowerBuilder/Oracle (together)?experience.
?5 years experience with ORACLE, DB2, SQL, and data modeling.
?5 years experience with software development methodologies such as RUP
?Solid object-oriented knowledge base.
?Must be able to trouble shoot in a client server environment
?Strong background developing in a networking environment.

?BS Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
