About the Sr. Software Engineer (UI) Opportunity

This is an opportunity to work in an exciting product space, mobile local search. Our first product, Find It!, is already getting great reviews. We plan to add significant new features: mobile local search tied to YP listings (advertising), spoken directions (voice output), and other capabilities like finding the nearest free WiFi hot spot. Our roadmap includes voice navigation, more GPS features, and new client architectures such as Flash Light (Macromedia & Verizon) and uiOne (Brew & Sprint).

Essential Job Duties

This senior software engineer will contribute to mobile applications in the InfoSpace local search product lines. This work will cover a variety of middle-tier and user interface .NET services, such as:

? ?Thick client? proxy servers, for our J2ME and Brew clients
? ?Thin client? services, providing WAP-based and desktop web user experiences
? Middle-tier web services that support a variety of transactions: yellow and white pages search, maps and directions, voice input and output, and more.
? Day to day activities include documentation, detailed design, coding, code reviews, client and system debugging, using .NET technologies.

This person must learn and help improve INSP mobile architectures, system components, and related development processes, from bug reporting to OPS deployments and monitoring.


Required Skills, Education & Experience

*Must be experienced in concepts of Object Oriented Design and Development and must have hands-on development experience with solid fundamentals (data structures, algorithms).
*Must have at least 5 years experience of software design and development
*Must have flexibility of attitude, flexibility to do additional work at short notice when required by the business, and the ability to work effectively with a development team
*Must be a good listener / communicator, able to pick up on ill-defined business problem and translate into concise functional / non-functional requirements and thence to system definitions, able to work independently
*Must have strong practical experience in developing XML web services
*Ideally have solid practical experience in implementing Web Applications with C# and ASP.Net
