We have an immediate opening for a Senior Systems Engineer to be responsible for monitoring

high availability and performance of all components of Pay By Touch operations, architecting solutions, management and operation of Linux/ UNIX and Windows servers, supporting systems running in a 24x7 environment, monitoring and system tools as well as first and second tier resolution of production issues.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Manage and monitor systems to drive troubleshooting and tuning

 

First and second tier resolution of production issues and alerts

 

Understand all components of the PBT infrastructure in order to analyze impact of alarms and other system messages

 

Work with external teams and cross IT functional teams (i.e. Engineering, Product) to diagnose complex problems and drive resolution

 

Utilize available toolset such as NMIS, Big Brother, WSAM etc. to diagnose and resolve production issues

Resolve errors and alarms quickly and provide timely escalation

 

Complete tasks required to maintain service levels and availability of all production systems.

 

Responsible for arranging ?post mortems? of all outages.

 

NOTE:  This position might require candidate to work swing or grave shift to support 24x7 operations.

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

Minimum 5 to 7 years system administration experience in a Unix environment

 

Strong understanding of UNIX processes, Cron Jobs, Daemon, restarting services is a must.

 

Solid knowledge of operating system internals, file system structures, and machine architectures in a UNIX environment.

 

Good understanding of SAN and NFS required

 

Highly familiar with at least two of the following scripting tools such as AWK, SED, EXPECT, PERL, and shell scripting

 

Knowledge of relational databases preferably Oracle

 

Knowledge and experience in J2EE Application Server technology (i.e., WebSphere, WebLogic)

 

Working experience in IBM Tivoli products is a must (ITCAM, WSAM, ITM, TEC, TMF, etc.)

 

Knowledge in J2EE application development is a big plus

 

Proven problem solving skills with an emphasis on quick problem resolution

 

Ability to work on many tasks simultaneously in a high-pressure environment

 

Basic LAN and WAN network troubleshooting knowledge

 

Must have experience troubleshooting UNIX applications in a complex environment. 

 

Must have experience with SNMP, OID, and MIB?s

 

Experience with configuring SMTP, DNS, and DHCP is required.

 

BS in technical field or equivalent experience
