Sr. User Interface Software Engineer



 

Summary

The Senior User Interface Software Engineer performs complex design and programming tasks pertaining to the creation, enhancement, and maintenance of software products. The ideal candidate will participate in the implementation of solutions that employ leading-edge technologies in a J2EE development environment, such as Java Applications, Swing, and XML.

 Estimates development schedules and determines project scope.Creates code that meets design specifications, follows standards, and is easy to maintain.Tests and peer reviews code for technical accuracy, standards, and functional compliance to the design.Provides technical assistance and technical training to other departments as required.Works with QA team to ensure that the product is fully tested.Works with Documentation to see that all enhancements, bug fixes, and new products are documented.Works with Product Management to help define the appropriate user interface and work flow for project requirements.Takes the lead on major projects or project segments; mentors other team members.Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

 Required:Bachelor?s degree in computer science, software engineering, or equivalent experience. Advanced degree desirable.Minimum of 7+ years experience in software engineering.Minimum of 3+ years working knowledge of all facets of UI development and possess a good understanding of basic UI design and usability rules: emphasis on client UI using Swing and AWT.Working knowledge of J2EE components such as servlets, JSP?s, HTML, XML,  EJBs and services such as JDBC, JNDI, and struts.Proven work experience on an enterprise-level J2EE project Strong background in software architecture and design practices with experience developing quality production software with Java and Swing in the last five years. Possess a persistent attitude and an ability to work under high pressure.

 Preferred:Hands-on experience using Java Application servers such as Jboss and WebLogicExperience using Windows NT/W2K/XP, Solaris and Linux.Practical knowledge of XML and Java-based XML parsersExperience coding to Application servers such as JBoss, WebLogic, and Websphere

 Desired:Experience using Linux (Redhat/Suse) a plusExperience in Agile development environmentsDatabase experience (e.g., DB2)  Work experience in StrutsExperience using Unix (Solaris)
