Staff Counsel - Litigation Support

DESCRIPTIONTop, prestigious law firm seeks a Business Litigation Attorney with significant experience with sophisticated, computer-based Litigation Support systems and procedures.

The candidates for this very unique, administrative-level Staff Counsel position must have experience utilizing software-based document management systems such as Concordance or Summation (with Concordance proficiency strongly preferred) -- including database creation, modification, manipulation and retrieval.

The candidate must be able to prepare instructional material and be able to trouble-shoot significant issues raised by the attorneys or litigation support staff during the course of litigation.

Impeccable communication skills required to help train and supervise individuals using such systems. Leadership and organizational skills are necessary to supervise and direct litigation support analysts. Self confidence and diplomacy are fundamental to function as a consultant to the trial team and the IT professionals.

This a cutting edge position -- EVERY LAW FIRM will be utilizing this position -- an attorney with high level IT skills to consult with the trial team for optimum results!REQUIREMENTSJ.D. degree from a well-respected law school.

Admitted to the CA bar, active and in good standing; or admitted in another state or the District of Columbia, active and in good standing.

A minimum of 6-8 years of complex litigation experience in a law firm.

Expert user of Concordance, Summation, IPRO / Opticon, CaseMap, LiveNote, Trial Director or Sanction.

Counsel fellow attorneys on strategic uses of technology.

Strong organizational, reasoning and research skills; creativity; strong written and verbal communication abilities; good judgment; attention to detail; initiative.

Flexibility, composure and the ability to prioritize and handle many urgent tasks and requests simultaneously with a high level of competence and accuracy;

The ability to remain composed and professional under stressful circumstances;

Sensitivity to ethical and confidentiality requirements;

Strong customer service skills.

Team work, team-building and leadership experience.

This is an exempt position. Staff Counsel are expected to bill a minimum of 1750 hours per year to Firm client matters (including pro bono matters), and approved program or department work, maintain regular office hours consistent with the Firm?s normal business hours and be available as needed for after-hours or weekend work.
