Serve as a system integrator of life science instrumentation. Major responsibilities will include architecting, designing, and implementing software to integrate electromechanical and optomechanical systems. This software will be used for manual and high-level control of breadboards and advanced prototypes.



 Required:
• Bachelor degree or higher in an engineering discipline, preferably electrical or mechanical, or similar with a minimum of 5 years of industry experience with life science instrumentation, or equivalent.
• Strong LabVIEW programming skills preferably in Windows (minimum 5 years)
• Ability to identify off-the-shelf hardware/software solutions to solve control and measurement challenges. Particular strengths should include motion control, image acquisition and data manipulation.
• Experience interfacing with and controlling scientific instrumentation
• Familiarity with communication protocols (i.e. GPIB, SCPI, proprietary serial)
• Experience with data acquisition methods and hardware, especially for temperature, motion, and imaging.
• Ability to gather requirements from various groups and rapidly develop the software to meet these requirements
• Ability to work with little guidance and to influence good technical decisions in small teams Recommended:
• Familiarity with hardware troubleshooting skills and tools (i.e. serial port analyzers)
• Comfort with formal software design principles, especially object-oriented design is highly desirable
• Experience with interfacing to external code (DLL, .NET, ActiveX) and to databases is highly desirable
• Ability to lead small technical teams is desirable
• Familiarity with Linux is a plus
