System Administrator III (5122)

Duties : Measure capacity of platforms during normal operations and compare against limits of components
The Apache Tomcat administrator would have overall responsibility for managing and performing the day-to-day administrative functions related to the NARA UNIX servers
Utilize weblogs, application server logs, to diagnose problems
One week per month act as the principle point of contact to client for any engineering issues on a 24x7 basis (pager and/or cell phone)
Administer the evolving Sun Solaris/Intel Linux environment at remote client collocated environments
Collate information from the tools suites used to monitor system performance and provide relevant periodic and ad hoc reports on system health
Interface with application managers to evaluate system solutions/options that provide the customer with major improvements to critical applications in a prudent manner
Provide direct assistance, advice and support to members of client.
Provide Unix related server administration functions including configuration management, data management, fault management, capacity planning, source control, new system implementation and hardware and software migration strategies
Perform routine system administrative maintenance, adjustments and upgrades to Sun servers including hardware and software security patches


Requirements:
2 years Oracle Database deployment experience in an operations environment
2 - 3 years experience supporting SUN Desktop and mid-range servers (incl. Ultra 2, 220R 280R, 450, 480, 4800, 5000) in a data center environment.
Solaris 2.7, 2.8, 2.9 (32 and 64 bit) routine and acute administration/maintenance expertise, including hardware and software RAID, NAS (T3 & T3+), local and remote backup to DLT and LTO, kernel memory configuration and TCP/IP stack tuning
Experience with Webtrends, Apache and Stronghold


2 - 3 years experience with the following software also a plus:
bind 9, ARS Remedy, and FileNET
Experience in Web application technologies such as SOAP, XML, ASP/JSP
Microsoft Windows programming technologies such as Win32, WMI, COM/DCOM, .NET
