System Test Engineer

System Test Engineer Description: DUTIES This position requires broad based knowledge in imaging products, such as digital cameras, video cameras, switching/networking equipment and recording devices and methods. The selected Candidate will work closely with the R&D Engineering Team to develop test methods, test prototype video cameras, troubleshoot video camera issues and prepare cameras for compliance and validation testing prior to production.

This person will be responsible for setting up and maintaining a test lab that will enable the rapid evaluation of video imaging product prototypes at several stages in the development cycle. This will involve the specification and procurement of equipment that meets the testing needs of the development lab and the test methods and scripts of the Engineering Team to verify camera operational characteristics. The scope of testing will range from simple mechanical tests and operational and performance testing, to testing network inter-operability with multiple systems.

This person will also be responsible for hiring and supervising Technicians and other personnel required to operate the lab and to deliver excellent customer service to the R&D Engineers and Manager in the development lab. The Engineer and his team will also work closely with testing facilities in other parts of the US when transitioning the products from prototype condition to compliance testing, product validation and production. The most successful candidate will have a strong work ethic and the ability to work in a rapidly moving start up environment.




Requirements:
o 5 years experience in a product development environment with project time, budget, and resource constraints.
o Demonstrated interest in technology with a desire to make a contribution to the field.
o Demonstrated experience with digital imaging product performance assessment including resolution testing, frame capture rate assessment, colorimetric testing, and general operational reliability testing.
o Be extremely comfortable with computers and computer peripherals, with ability to set up local networks of shared PCs, printers, and storage devices.
o Demonstrated previous leadership roles in a technical environment, especially in supervision of Technicians and/or Product Testers.
o Demonstrated ability to work across organizational functions to get work done. Ability to work with Engineers and Engineering Managers.


Desired:
In addition to the required skills above, preference will be given to candidates with the following:
o AS degree, especially with additional courses toward BS. Emphasis in electronics, networking, optics, and/or mechanical design/fabrication is preferred.
o Familiarity with Internet Protocols and configuration and networking of devices using Internet Protocols. Application of this knowledge to system/device troubleshooting.
