Systems Administrator

 

We are seeking a dynamic team player to provide system build and administrative support for Solaris8, Windows2000, and Linux web-based applications in our ASP environment.

 

Candidate should have solid troubleshooting skills, be a quick learner/self starter, and be able to juggle and prioritize several tasks at once in a fast paced environment.

 

***This position requires 50% domestic travel to our production data centers in Columbia, MD and Dayton, OH.***

 

Responsibilities:

* Installation and implementation of all systems in our remote data center.

* Support mission critical production of Unix, Windows, and Linux systems; perform routine system administration  functions including OS tuning, performance monitoring, security monitoring, and system upgrades.

* Evaluate, recommend, and implement production enhancements including centralized storage and backup systems.

* Work with application developers, systems engineering, and database administrators to ensure optimal performance of production systems.

* Work with the data center networking and facilities group to resolve network related issues.

* Installation, configuration, and day-to-day operations of the Web infrastructure for P&H WebCash Management platforms including iPlanet and IIS web servers, BEA Weblogic Application Server and the full suite of P&H products in the ASP environment.

* Planning and implementing security processes/procedures and performing security audits for Unix and Windows2000 servers within the Data Center

* Installation and maintenance of digital certificates for web servers and application servers using Verisign and Entrust certificate authority.

 

Experience and Skills:

* Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent experience.

  - 3 - 5 years experience in the following areas:

- Sun Solaris operating system

  - Windows operating systems

  - Linux operating systems

- Veritas Clustering Software

  - Veritas volume manager

  - WindowsNT/Windows 2000 administration

- Performing UNIX backups - Veritas NetBackup

  - Installing hardware and operating systems.

* Solid working knowledge of the following products: iPlanet, IIS, Apache web server, BEA Weblogic, SSH SSL, SNMP, Sendmail, Oracle and DNS.

* Excellent writing, communication, and time management skills

* Good customer service skills
