Systems Analyst

The Product Marketing Systems Team of Protective Life Corporation has an opening for Systems Analyst in the Birmingham, Alabama home office. This position works with external customers in defining business needs, goals, and priorities and continually seeks to refine and improve the software development process.

Responsibilities:
Designs, tests, codes, and debugs moderately complex utilities and programs.
Works with external users to understand the business user needs, goals, and priorities.
Evaluates moderately complex new business systems or systems enhancements for estimates and flexibility.
Understands and manages moderately complex software builds requiring general configuration management skills.
Continually seeks to improve software development process. Seeks to develop strategies to improve efficiencies and customer delivery.
Other projects and duties as assigned.

Requirements:

(1) a Bachelors degree with a Major in a technical concentration such as Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or Engineering, or (2) applicable work experience in the software development process. A thorough knowledge of a programming language such as C# or or Visual Basic attained through 2-5 years of software programming/development experience is also required. Life Insurance product programming experience a plus.
