You will need to have the ability to communicate the business benefits, execute product demonstrations, architect and implement test pilots; whiteboard proposed solutions and explain the integration impact of ScriptLogic products to an existing environment. As a Systems Engineer you will also engage in actively recruiting partners by effectively conveying the qualities and business benefits of the ScriptLogic product line.

 

Position Summary:

The role of the Systems Engineer is to drive revenue through shortening the sales cycle by overcoming technical hurdles and providing technical sales leadership during the pre-sales phase of an opportunity.  The position requires the ability to execute product demonstrations, architect and implement test pilots, whiteboard proposed solutions and explain the integration impact of ScriptLogic products to an existing environment. The Systems Engineer will also engage in actively recruiting partners by enthusiastically explaining the qualities and business benefits of the ScriptLogic product line.  Strong problem solving and analytical abilities are required for the position.  Strong written and verbal communication skills are also essential.

 

Primary Accountabilities:

The Systems Engineer will be a self-starter and have a broad set of responsibilities ranging from managing simultaneous test pilots to crafting and presenting high-level, complex technical solutions based on the ScriptLogic Product Line.  The Systems Engineer will work closely with the sales management team to help identify partner and revenue opportunities that align with the business goals of the client.  The individual exercises independent judgment in developing methods, techniques, and evaluation criterion for obtaining results.  The Systems Engineer will be accountable for the effective delegation and coordination of work to more junior systems engineers, partners and client technical personnel during the scope definition stage of a test pilot. The Systems Engineer will coach and mentor both ScriptLogic and partner sales representatives and systems engineers in the proper positioning and use of the ScriptLogic technologies and best practices.

 



The primary duties for this position include but are not limited to:

? The Systems Engineer will be responsible for creating the content and delivery of solution demonstrations/presentations in  briefings and demand generation events.

? Serve as a QA resource and/or project lead for test pilots implemented by partner resources.

? Effectively present the technical benefits of the ScriptLogic Product Suite and show how these translate into business value to the customer.

? In coordinated efforts with the account manager, actively participates in account and opportunity planning.

? Act as the primary technical point of contact with the client or partner during the pre-sales phase.

? Act as a technical expert on all the components of the ScriptLogic Product Suite.

? Act as a technology expert on ScriptLogic bridging technologies, such as system management tools, enterprise directory tools, security reports, regulatory compliance mandates and data migration techniques.

? Active participation in business development activities, these include but not limited to identifying new business alliance candidates, such as systems integrators, independent software vendors or channel partners, as well as help develop existing ones through formal coaching and mentoring activities.

? Administrative responsibility by providing timely status reports to managers, effective use of CRM tools, and consistent and timely delivery of Time & Expense timesheets.

? Keep abreast of new competitive products or service offerings and be able to move quickly to neutralize potential impact on ScriptLogic objectives.

? Provide pre-sales technical and architectural support for enterprise customers.

? Build and foster customer relationships that lead to corporate standardization of ScriptLogic products.

?  Proactively seek to expand technical knowledge and supplement skills through the use of books, manuals, web, certified training centers and classroom training. 

 

Typical project roles would include:

? Manage simultaneous test pilots from development of scope definition through opportunity closure.

? Support the sales management team with account and opportunity planning.

? Leverage advanced technology skills to overcome technical hurdles in strategic enterprise accounts.

? Deliver technical solution?s updates to partners, distributors or end users.

 

Qualifications:

The position requires the individual to possess advanced presentation skills and experience that comprises a balanced mix of technology, general business and communication skills.  The individual must be flexible, dependable, and capable of multi-tasking.  Aptitude for learning new products and technologies is essential.  The Systems Engineer should have an advanced understanding of desktop and server operating systems software, including UNIX or Microsoft Windows operating systems and proficiency in common office productivity software such as Microsoft Office.  The individual should have demonstrated a command of the ScriptLogic Product Suite as well as detailed knowledge in, and solid experience with, Microsoft operating systems, directory services, advanced networking design and software distribution technologies.  The Systems Engineer should also have advanced knowledge in several of the following:

 

? NT domain/Active Directory

? W2K, WXP or UNIX Installation and Configuration

? Browsing and Name Resolution

? Authentication Concepts

? Security

? Routing

? Firewall Configuration

? Networking

? TCP/IP & IP Routing

? Scripting

? Web Technologies & Web Serving

? Portal Concepts

 

Requirements:

Position requires a Bachelor of Science or equivalent experience and knowledge of system architecture and/or programming languages, working command of English, both written and oral and a positive customer service attitude.  Must be a ?self-starter? and demonstrate strong time management skills. 

Must be willing to travel 70-80% of the time.
